The Elephant in the Build Room: Promoting Mental Health in FIRST

4:00 p.m. - 4:50 p.m.

Cobo - 250B/C

Stress and anxiety are a constant presence in the life of a high school student. Combine that with the intensity of a six week FRC build season and sprinkle in a dash of twelve-plus hour days of the emotional roller coasters that are FRC events, and its little wonder that the mental health of all participants can suffer greatly over the months of January through April. This presentation will focus on how to recognize signs of mental distress in others and build a positive mental health environment on your team.
